: : Rich, Elaine,
: : Do you think you could remind us how the site is set up regarding font, size etc.? Since getting this new computer, I haven't been able to set it right to be able to see the site as you do it.
: : Thanks guys.
: : K.
: Sure enough ...
: We view our site, when creating it, at a resolution of 800x600, 24bit color. That's fairly universal, though there are people who use different monitor settings.
: We check the site in both Internet Explorer (5.5) and Netscape (4.7), using font sizes of "medium - largest". In IE I prefer the look at a slightly smaller scale. In Netscape I think it looks best with a larger font size. Using those settings & monitor resolution keeps the photos from overlapping. If you find overlap, use a larger font in your browser.
: Then there's the font style. Throughout, we use Prose Antique, though Book Antiqua is a pretty good substitute. Then, we also throw in, here & there, Calligraphic & Park, both of which were used in the guide booklet, so using them here creates a sort of continuity. Of course, you need these fonts installed on your computer to see them, otherwise, your system selects something else. In a few instances, we've used other fonts, but off-hand, I don't recall what they are!
: It is next to impossible to ensure that all people see the same thing ... too many variables. Creating gifs or jpgs with text solves the problem, but takes up more space & makes it more difficult to edit later on ... we've used those very selectively.
: To FULLY enjoy the site, you also need Real Player, version 7 or higher, and Adobe Acrobat ... both free downloads. See our Home Page.
: OK?
: So, what's the new computer?
: Oh, and our tech guy says today's the day for site transfer ... so, if the Board disappears, that's why. We shall return!

Great! Thank you, Rich! And as soon as I have five minutes spare, I shall endeavour to change everything back to what it SHOULD be!!! I've had this computer nearly a year now - and things STILL ain't what they should be!! I just HAVE to get Mohicanland set up properly!!
Of course, I CAN'T do it right away, as I am REALLY, VERY BUSY doing stuff for Ariel's Cabin! Heard about that little girl, who needs a bit of a hand?? We're going to be having a little 'shoppe' at the Gathering, wherein we shall be selling various craft items in order to raise some cash to help swell Ariel's Fund!! For her medical expenses, dontcha know!! Well OF COURSE YOU DO!! Aren't you going to be making up some CD's with the most INCREDIBLE scenery on them!!! Sorry, I'm deviating (but, as my psychology tutor used to say - that DOESN'T make you a bad person!!). Thanks for that info! I can now get my 'default' settings back to where they SHOULD be!!
>>if the Board disappears, that's why. We shall return!
OH YES!!! This is not the excuse 'we' are using to pull the whole thing down, never to return???? 'Cause if THAT'S the plan... boy, are YOU in trouble!!! Well, all I can say is 'a pox on that man', making our beloved Mohicanland disappear!!! (Whoever heard the like!!!).
Kate.
PS - my computer? A 'Patriot' of course!
