Uncles,
I have learned more news of the native that has sworn vengence on the MacWilliam Clan. His name is "Red Bud", which is familiar to all on the Scouting Party. We have heard of this demon from many accounts of death and savagery all along the Middle Colonies. I need not go into detail, but to say he, and his deceased brother Red Leaf, has been in this killing business for many years.
We visited with Uncle Robert at his tavern The Cross Keys yesterday, and while there, was told of an attempt on his life a fortnight ago. It seems there was a short, fat character that came into the tavern asking of anyone familiar with the name "MacWilliam". When Uncle Robert said he was kin to them, the savage produced a belt axe and large knife, began screaming in a frenzied manner, and tried to decapitate him. Between the fact of being inept and clumsy with his weapons and the presence of a few loyal locals, the attack was unsuccessful. The demon gave them all the slip, and escaped. He was later identified by a native, who was in the tavern at the time of the attack, as the son of Red Root, a tavern owner in Catawissa Town, and "Red Bud" by name. It was then told that he was suspected of many crimes and murders in the past, but has concentrated his efforts on eliminating all members of the MacWilliam family; thus the attack on Uncle Robert.
So we are on the trail of the infamous Red Bud. And although his reputation of being a fierce and savage warrior preceeds him, he now sounds quite different than first anticipated. We will follow his tracks as best we can, and if ever there were expert trackers, i am in their company. Dink and Sly especially, could follow a snail's track across a frozen lake. We will scour the wilderness for this fiend, and if he is to be found......we will find him.
One last note, while in Northamptontown i had occassion to visit Newton's Bakery. He offers an especially tasty snack made with a fig stuffing wrapped in a soft sweet baked dough. I like them very much, and must teach Mother the recipe.
