PHOTO: Think you can't do it? That's Summer, front - middle, well on her way to having her first baby, on the trail at Table Rock, one of the more difficult hikes. (No, she DIDN'T bear it along the way!) On the left is me, at the time a decrepit 48 years old. To the right, a spritely Ayesha ... soon to be a Grandma. In the background are Mary & Rob, all the way from Ontario, Canada ... Beautiful day! Let's hope the weather is as good this year!
Last week, we added the first dispatch from Fort William Henry, dealing with the recent excavations. This week, belatedly, we added a couple of pretty relevant pics to illustrate. Check out "From The Ramparts" again! There's also a link there to some extraordinary views of a warship, still on the bottom of Lake George, and a walking tour of some very LOTM-related sites around Lake George, New York. Thanks to Fort William Henry, Bateaux Below, and Tim Cordell for helping us assemble this on-going collection of historical additions to our Web Site!!!
Also, in our "News & Notes" section, more on the soon-to-be opening of Cooper's Cave, also in NY. How I wish I were home right now!
Our NEWEST addition to the Web Site, now in the process of moving to an upgraded server by the way, is a eclectic little "column" written EXCLUSIVELY for The Courier (and, so, for you) from one of our beloved LOTM's more unnoticed characters - though not for long - and that be: Cousin Eugenie. Yep, Cora's Brit Cousin (a Brunette, no less!) will spew forth her world views in this continuing editorial journal. A rather mild beginning will open the door to controversy & mayhem. Don't like it? Too bad! That's the way of it! We'll all just have to grin & bear it, for those Courier Editors have the POWER ...
As the server is upgraded, and with new software, we'll very soon be adding new video clips and our long awaited (you WERE anxiously awaiting this, weren't you????) Listening Room to the Site. And, "The Companion Guide" will FINALLY (we HOPE) be on its way to the printing press within a couple of months ... We'll be locking ourselves in chambers for a bit in about a week to put on the finishing touches.
A couple of 2001 Gathering Notes:
-- We have received the Grand Raffle Prize - it is in our hands - and a beauty it be! Oh, you haven't entered? Do so! Tickets will ONLY be available through the mail ... in advance! See our Gathering Pages for the info!
-- Spoke with David Hildebrand recently (one of the Gathering musicians) about a little extra treat for all you Board visitors. You'll have to wait, though, till Friday, June 15.
-- During "release-time" from the locked chambers, I plan to visit the facilities involved, The Elk Hunt area, and try out the DVD on the big screen on a couple of field trips into the Mohicanland interior. Wanna come?
-- Raffle & auction in need of contributions! Please contact Misses Marcia and/or Kate if you'll have something for one or both these fun fund raisers!
And, that's that for that, I think ...
Lator Gators & Happy Trails!
