: Hi! I am helping my 5th Grade daughter with her social studies project on the Eastern Woodlands Indians. She is searching for a recipe that would allow her to make a traditional dish.
: Can anyone help us.
: Thanks.

Here`s one that we do for an Eastern Woodland Native form of trail bread. First you have to find some corn husks. (we have them in every store down here for the Hispanics to make tamales with) Get a packaged cornbread mix but don`t use the instructions on the package. Add a little water and make it into a stiff dough. You can add honey if you want to sweeten and preserve. Soak husks in water till soft. Take a pinch of dough and roll in husk then tie both ends. After you have all these made up take a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Then add the cornbread packets in and boil for about 20 minutes. Bread will be cooked and keeps for many days in the husk. We carry these to eat on the trail.
Good luck,
Clabert
