ABOVE: Part of the First Gathering contingent
This Gathering thing ... what a great event it has become ... little did we know 4 years ago!
I remember talking with Marcia, some time before the First Gathering, about how we'd have fun even if just SIX of us showed up (Marcia, Elaine, Sharon, Eric, Susan & I --- 5 of the 6 locals!). Of course, that didn't happen, but we DID have fun! One of the best things was seeing what people really looked like. A car pulled up, with 4 women it. Naturally, I thought it was Jo & her Sisters. It wasn't. It turned out to be Carol & Chris & ... I forget ... maybe Ilse? And someone ... Just one of those little things I fondly remember. Donna was there. Caitlin. John & Linda & Kelli Evans. John Harkins. Most of the folks mentioned above have been at all three Gatherings ... most of them will be at the Fourth.
Never thought this would happen!
Shoot, we've had Eric Schweig come! This year musicians of prominence will be here. We've had participation from the "Mohicans" location manager. Pretty neat!
For this year, a few more pieces have come into place in just the past few hours ...
1 - The T-Shirts, though not yet ready for an unveiling, have a plan, and from the sound of it, a good one! Can't wait to see them.
2 - We've got a special raffle item lined up ... one that will be raffled off separately from the other items. Won't disclose it until we actually have it in hand, but once we do, we'll beginning selling tickets.
3 - We've got all the necessary facts & figures together to begin taking reservations ... right on schedule. Look for the forms on the first of February.
4 - John Evans, who I spoke with yesterday, is bringing an even larger assortment than usual of his collection of LOTM props ... to be displayed & discussed at the CRP Pavilion Sunday morning.
It all sounds like a fine time. A lot of new stuff mixed in with the old stand-bys. I can't wait! Even thinking of joining the crowd at The Geneva!
Regarding Jo: Alive & well, and dodging California black-outs. Heard from her last night. No horse, though!
Still waiting on my new LOTM DVD, so I can't comment. It has replaced the original DVD, which has been discontinued ... so, if you've got one of those, you have yourself a collector's item ... or coaster ... or earring ... or ...
Happy Super Sunday!
