Bill R.....
Well, you are certainly right, but in the Chronicles (as told by Dr. Uncle Mark....oh, wait, that's me...or is this Malcolm....or, who knows!!) there is such a fine line between reality and fiction. THIS Dr. Uncle Mark knows it's Rosebud, but THAT Dr. Uncle Mark (who trips the light fantastic with Hannah and Hiram!) got mixed up because he was making a tie-in with Citizen Kane and the Chronicles....in other words, dear Bill, THAT Dr. Uncle Mark screwed up!!! Also, THAT Dr. Uncle Mark may have THOUGHT he heard "redbud" instead of "rosebud" because, being a reenactor, he has lost about 20% of his hearing from too many musket blasts in the ears!! And the niece and nephew....well, they are just kids, you know!!! They NEVER listen or hear things correctly!!
Since you have pointed it out....THIS Dr. Uncle Mark will have to try to bail out THAT Dr. Uncle Mark in the next Chronicles entry when THAT Dr. Uncle Mark appears with the niece and nephew (Hannah and Hiram, who are snickering very loudly at this point!).
Anyway, thanks for finding the screw-up. There are times when this impromptu writing gets very confusing....like the time that Malcolm wrote (in Chronicles II) that he missed his Magdalena (which is Many Flags woman!!)...a quick sidestep averted disaster by Malcolm next writing that, wasn't it curious that Many Flags and his own wife had the same name!! Thus, Malcolm now refers to his wife back in Scotland as Maggie (which is also the name of Flags and Tales mother who is married to the German immigrant). Confusing.....did someone say "redbud" or did they say "have a bud!!"
Pax Aye!
