I've read many many books on the French & Indian War, and Crucible of War is by far the best. Mr. Anderson's scholarship is excellent. He writes with enough detail that i wasn't bored reading about battles and events I'm already very familiar with. I also found this book to be one of the few I've read which clearly explains how the French & Indian War in North America tied in with events in Europe and around the world, and all the political policies which shaped the events of the war. I think Crucible of War is well worth the effort, you'll definately have a much better understanding of the period. Currently I've read the first 581 pages, only a couple hundred more to go.
