Well, I can't be sure. Using the zoom causes that part of the picture to be pushed off the screen. It appears that he DOES pick up something ... tomahawk, maybe? Pretty sure he has something in each hand ...
I wouldn't rule out your Alice theory, but it looks slim ...
As I type, the boys are chasing the Hurons, during the old "I Will Find You" sequence. I really like the theme music even better!
