: : : : Here I been waiting near a week for She to get back. She promises me a good bone and some water-and-ale from Bumppo's Tavern, burrows off through the snow, and never comes back. The fire's out, the bearskin has fleas, and the dried venison jerky that's left is NOT to my taste!
: : : : mutter mutter snuffle
: : : : Mebbe I ought to get myself up to Miss Marcia's. She's always good for some food and sympathy. Almost too weak to crawl through the woods and up on her veranda. But then, that's always good for a little extra beef stew and a soft bed. Hope she doesn't have that consarned bird Basil visiting her like she did last Summer. Don't think I can cope with that loud-mouth bird, hungry or not. Ah, the days when we knew the time honored recipe for Green Parrot Soup.
: : : : snuffle snuffle scratchscratchscratch! damn bearskin!
: : : : Okay, here I come, Miss Marcia, ready or not.
: : : : Hector

: : : Hey Hector,
: : : You sweet thing. If Miss Marcia's not home, you can always come to my cabin. I've got some venison stew simmering over the fire and I think I have a cup or two of Bummpo's ale in the larder. (That's if Miss Huggy didn't finish off the last of it.) I've even got a nice soft sheepskin rug you can snuggle up to in front of the fire. So you mind now, if Miss Marcia's not home, just come on over for a little TLC (I'll even scratch behind those big soft ears of yours.) Oh and Hector, I don't have any noisy Parrots to bother you. Mind you, I do have Merlin. You remember him don't you..he's that Bobcat kitten I adopted sometime back. He's not small anymore and pretty much comes and goes as he pleases, but I don't think he'll bother you none. Nice kitty.
: : : Miss JayBee
: : Dearest Pootchie Pootchie!
: : Now here I am, a jaded Board watcher who lurks in the shadows and almost never comments on anything anymore... but reading about your plight.... I will not be able to sleep tonight unless you manage to get word to me that your beloved mistress has returned, fed you, and cleaned up that darn bear skin full of fleas!
: : My best friend Tiger, who for years had to weather long intervals of living by himself in the garden with only our best friend Lee coming over once a day and feeding him and watering him, until I return from the diaspora, sends you his love and sympathy and empathy!
: : Hang in there, you good soul!!!!!
: : You got my hugs and prayers,
: : Vita

: Oh, boy, that snuffle snuffle routine gets 'em every time. Here I am collecting invitations, no less! Let's see - venison stew and a soft sheepskin - but then there's Merlin - GOD how I hate that kitten! But venison stew. Sheepskin. Ah's me. Mebbe Merlin and I could compromise.
: On the other hand, sounds like I could whimper my way over to the Town Crier's place and move in on Tiger's digs. He lives pretty well, as I remember. And all those hugs and prayers - should at least lead to a juicey lamb chop, if I work it right. I'll just practice a bit of a whimper . . . and mebbe a touch of the quivering lip. Seems to me that always got the best possible reaction from Bent Twigg when Miss Marcia did it.
: Hmmmmmmm. First to Miss Marcia's, then on to Miss JayBee's, and then a visit to the Town Crier. Haven't had such a full social schedule since I was a pup and still had some teeth.
: Here's Miss Marcia's place. Now if I can just haul my poor weak bones up through the snow on her front steps and scratch pitifullly at her front door . . . whimper snuffle.
: Hector
Sure sure. Go lay down on your nice sheepskin rug with a steaming bowl of venison stew if you want. Don't mind the BIG kitty. What I WANT to talk about is that Green Parrot Soup!!!
Mmmmmmmmmm. Sounds delicious. Been a mighty long time since I have heard anybody talk about that particular delicacy. I can imagine myself stirring up that savory, simmering bowl of GPS right now, using one of the critters nice green tail feathers....less'n She or somebody has gathered all the dang feathers up for a quilt or somethin'.
Now.......where can we find the main ingredient for this tantalizing soup I wonder.......
