: Oh, it's OK!! I didn't mean for the two items in the "Subject" to be related.
: Happy 21st Century to all!!
: A few days of hunting at the cabin, and some adventures to relate later. After coming home, wife, kids and I did the usual marathon video watch. We seem to not watch videos for weeks, then BOOM, rent 5 for a weekend. Did that with Cider House Rules, Green Mile, Saving Grace, Skip and "Revolution" with Al Pacino (by the way, the first two in this list were excellent....the others...ehhhh!!)
: Should I critique Revolution? I picked out some main items and a lot of small items, but should have written them all down....oh well, not a big deal. The story itself was dark, jumpy and hard to follow, dialogue and accents were not very authentic. I thought characterization very weak and historically the movie didn't seem to follow a lot of what I know about the War for Indpendence (and some may say....What the hell does he know!!??)
: Uniforms were done fairly well, and they should have - considering that "costume" designer was John Mollo, one of the foremost historians on American Revolutionary clothing. However, there were only two uniforms (one American, one British) that were predominant in the movie. The American one was the 5th PA (brown body, red facings) and the British one I haven't identified...must look at Mollo's book!! My point is that the uniforms on both sides during the Revolution were a plethora (nice word, huh!) of color.
: Finally, the story did show a lot of the dark side of battle and Revolution, although many times it seemed like the French Revolution instead of American.....
: I vote for Patriot over Revolution!! (And you all know what I thought of the Patriot!!)
: Hey, Happy New Year!!
: Pax Aye!

I especially liked Al's blow-dry hair. Talk about mis-casting.
We've seen just about everything that's come out on video over the holiday, and I guess it says volumns about me, but my recommendations would be Chicken Run and Toy Story 2. Both far better than anything else we've seen. NS
