: If Mohican Press were software, instead of people, and you were currently using Version 6.0, this week's edition would be an upgrade to Version 6.5 ... with Version 7.0 on the immediate horizon!
: What's New? Conveniently, we've placed a link to just that right here on the Board. Please use it! See what we've been up to! What's New just this week?
: A Recap:
: * We're halfway there ... to being multimedia capable, that is. We've got our first test video in place. Now, we 're just waiting on our ISP to install the Real Server extentions. Once that is done, and we work out the obligatory kinks ("You Really Got Me" ... Yes, The Kinks! They used to be my favorite band, back in the mid-60's. Saw them on Shindig [OK, WHO dares to admit that they remember THAT show!?] and they blew me away when I was a mere, impressionable lad of 12 in 1964. Oh, off track ... sorry ...) ... you theoretically SHOULD be able to view video from our Site.
: * A new improved version of last week's new (old) Eric Schweig Gallery. Taking Chris up on her request for a more recent picture, I was combing thru several video tapes we have looking for a good capture when I said to myself, "What the heck!" and pulled a video clip instead. Clicking on the link to the video WILL, at this time, cause an error message. Be patient! Once the above-mentioned server extentions are installed, it'll be accessible. Did I mention this is free?
: * An Illustrated Script! You know, in this Web Site "business," one can quickly discern who are the takers, and who are the givers. Joy Landry has always been one of the Givers ... she's been here, though she doesn't often post, since nearly the beginning, helping to do the first Director's Cut Drive, donating sound files, and now this ... The Illustrated Script! Thank you, Joy, for a job well done! This is really neat. It's in the .pdf format, meaning you need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system to view it (we've got a link to a free download of that software, if you need it, on that page) ... includes screen captures, sidebars culled from this Web Site, and, of course, the complete script ... all in full color! Did I mention IT is free, too?
: * The Online-Guide now includes topographic maps. So, now you've got weather forecasts, accommodation listings, area Web Site links, AND maps ... all in one place ... online ... for free, in case I haven't mentioned that!
: * Dispatches From Around The Frontier ... News & Notes (link on the Board!) will have, among other things, the current month's History Channel related-TV listings ... so I won't have to bore you with that here any longer. Service is ... F-R-E-E!
: * On our Links Page ... a very nifty new Link ... to Lynn's Costume Movie Site ... of which, of course, LOTM is one. She has some extremely attractive screensavers, browser skins, and desktop themes there for ... yes, you guessed it ... F-R-E-E! I tried my very first Browser Skins from her site, and they are most simple to install & real desktop enhancements! To my knowledge, they cannot be used with Netscape, yet, though I believe the forthcoming v6 will accommodate them, but they do work with IE and, consequently, your Windows OS ... you'll see 'em appear in My Computer, Windows Explorer, etc. Try 'em, you'll like 'em! Thank you, Lynn S.
: * Plus, we added a Screen Capture, or two, another FAQ answered on our Site FAQ page, and bits & pieces of other info & corrections here & there throughout ... including, courtesy of Tony Hinde, a graphic for use to links to my book (Sorry, NOT free! The book, I mean!) ... all that stuff combining not only to enable me to renew an old Weekly Update feature ... that being the "Tooting Our Own Horn" column ... but to add more pieces to the mix that enables us to say that this is the most comprehensive Web Site on the subject likely ever to be. Toot! Toot! Yes, and ALL of it is free!
: Free, free, free ... yet we DARE to offer items for sale! What are we COMMUNISTS, or something? Oh, well ...
: So, PLEASE re-visit our Pathfinding section for information ON the book (the catalyst for all this FREE stuff!), explore the maze of items that is our extensive Mohican Musings section (including photographs & interviews you CAN'T find anywhere else), browse, scene-by-scene the Script of one of your favorite films - and download a slew of sound clips & music, while you're at it - travel History's well-worn, but sadly forgotten, road, learn practically everything there is to know on the soundtrack in our Musical Musings, lighten up a bit in our Off The Beaten Trail section, shop for a unique item or book in our Trading Post, re-live the phenomena known as a Great Mohican Gathering, launch elsewhere via our Links page, or get lost in the THOUSANDS of posts, on every imaginable Mohicans-dimly-related subject in our Mohican Board Archives ... it's all here ... for FREE (except, of course, the wares for sale! - Think I'm making a point here?)
: And as for that Great Mohican Gathering phenonena ... I'm really trying to muster up the enthusiasm to really go at it full steam ahead - the only way I ever go forward with anything like this; it gets ALL of me or NONE of me! - I'm trying by NOT trying, if you know what I mean. In any event, as to the date issue raised by Vince, I hope I didn't sound indifferent, for I really do care who can & can't make it. It's just that invariably there are those who can't come, no matter what date is selected. We can only choose one, based on our needs & availability, and hope for the best. Father's Day? I think we did that before, actually. As a Father of 9, it hardly figured in my thoughts. By the way, folks still are responding to our Gathering survey ... and each one says, if there is one, they'll be there ...
: OK ... One last thing, from another Giver ... What follows are a few reviews of Vita's book, "Ride The Eagle," the latest edition of which has a cover designed by none other than our fun-loving friend, and my loveable little spouse, TGATL. Just wanted to remind you, that despite our greedy, self-serving, intolerable crush-the-little-guy (funny, I always considered US the little guys! Shows, what do I know?) ways, every single penny you spend to purchase this book, if you were to, goes to one person ... a little blind girl, with a multitude of other physical problems, that can STILL manage the greatest of smiles ... Ariel.
: “…Sizzling sensuality set in the raw world of modern NYC
: journalism…The individual characterizations and the sensual
: overtones of this story are its strength – the people are complex and
: believable, and the love scenes are pulse racing! RIDE THE EAGLE shouldn’t be read unless an amorous partner is near!” Kathe
: Robin, Romantic Times Reviewer
: “RIDE THE EAGLE has an authentic ring of fact and scandal
: behind the headlines.” George Csicery, Documentary Film
: Producer
: “Romance has a new Jackie Collins – RIDE THE EAGLE’S author
: has unleashed fireworks of sexual combustion!” Gould Features Syndicate
: “RIDE THE EAGLE’s author has a nice touch with dynamic tension
: as she scales the heights of romance. RIDE THE EAGLE soars!”
: Nan H. Doporto, Affaire de Couer
: “…The characters are so real that I hated for this book to end. This
: is more than a story of career vs. love, but a most informative one
: about the careers of Caroline and Lester, and the issues they have
: to deal with, and problems to surmount. Labor relations are an
: important issue not often treated in fiction, and this is handled both
: knowledgeably and interestingly. What a pair, though, Caroline
: and Lester!” Louise Forshaw, Librarian
: “…In a business that grows more competitive each year, it was
: refreshing to read a romance whose background was not only
: different, but showed a true depth of understanding along with an
: adult love story. Thank you for the hours of reading enjoyment!
: RIDE THE EAGLE is a novel to be kept and reread time and again!” Theresa Di Benedetto, Author
: So, mosey on over ... And, Happy Trails!

Wow Rich, you HAVE been busy! It constantly amazes me how you find the time to do all of this. Well, seeing as how the bird is in the oven (Thanksgiving dinner for us today), I'm going to head on over to check out all of these great changes!
Thanks!...Jeri
