To my mind, war itself is reprehensible. Whenever leaders direct that war commence, they are tacitly agreeing that innocents will suffer harm and death along with the combatants.
I don't think there has been a war in history that innocents have not been killed along with combatants. All too often throughout history the targeting of innocents not only occurred, but even became policy or part of an agenda.
War is hateful.

: There were many atrocities committed during the 'Indian' wars on both sides, but Wounded Knee, in my mind at least, is the most horrific. I just can't comprehend how anyone can justify what the military did to those innocent women and children.
