ThreeTales’s cabin....
Christmas day
December 25th, 1758
Many Flags,
I am sending HalfBreed to Seamus’s cabin to deliver my decision of the hunt. I have just spent the most wonderful Christmas Day with TwoBottle and our three Little Ones, and have decided to pass on the invitation to join you to hunt the White Tail. Although we are in need of the meat that will be shared after the hunt, it is a long way to travel, and too many days away from the family at this time of the year. I will take my chance to find game here in the Valley; we have been successful so far, and will be safe for now.
HalfBreed arrived here this morning, after tramping the entire Colonys of Maryland, Delaware, and most of Virginia with the Patuxents. Since we have seen him at Fort Frederick in May, he has been scouting most of the area east of the Appalachian Mountains north of the Carolinas. The Patuxents have been mapping a large area for the Governor of Virginia, and have just recently disbanded for the winter. I told ‘Breed that it was nice that he came to visit his Mother on Christmas Day, and scolded him for not heeding our words at Frederick of keeping in touch with her. When I told him of your hunt, he decided then and there to join you, and said he would return home to see our Sister directly.
So, Good Luck my Brother. Give my good wishes to Seamus and The Uncles, for I will be staying behind with the Family. I have not compensated TwoBottle for the long time that we stayed away this year. I have many nights yet to spend in her company until I have repayed my debt of absence.

Post Script to Brother Flags,
I spoke briefly to ‘Breed about some of the strange things that have happened to us this year. He has also heard of the “RedBud mystery”. He said the Patuxents also talk of “RedBud” being associated with death, even to the extent that the word is being used as a form of threat. ‘Breed was told that a man that was disliked greatly was “shown the RedBud”, meaning he was sent to his grave. Curious that!
