: Well, if you bought it to look at the pretty pictures - and that's all - maybe so, maybe not. But if you EVER had or will have the desire to actually GO TO the places in the movie - and see where the famous leaning tree is for the first ambush - etc -then it is INDISPENSABLE. You can't find the places without it.
: Sure - you could find Biltmore on your own - but would you even know parts had been filmed at the Biltmore - or where the cottage was, or where exactly the cliff scenes were filmed? Nope. You need the guide. However, if all you wanted to do was look at pretty pictures - you could have saved yourself money and aggravation by getting a Dell comic book of your choice.

Thanks, Bill! You said what I 'would' have said, had I not been on my way out the door at the time and had more time to express myself better.
The book IS invaluable to those of us who really 'need' to see all the various locations in the film!! It would be TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE for someone such as myself to have the time and money to spend looking for the various sites. This book makes it all possible. 'Course, if you go to the Gatherings, it is just an excellent guide to have with you, so you can 'just check'!!
And I LOVE having all those pictures right there at my fingertips. I have often taken that book with me on a journey, looked at the pics and thought about my own trips to see those exact spots - it sure passes the time on a trip!! In fact, I had it with me on the plane on the way to the last Gathering, and I noticed the guy in the next seat having a little 'shuft' over my shoulder, from time to time! It DID occur to me to let him borrow it but - I was afraid I might not get it back! :o(
Nope - CAN'T DO without my 'On The Trail...' As a friend will tell you - I don't even lend it out!! :o(
