: : Why thank you Miss Marcia.....and here is my attempt to explain my personas.
: : The Huggy Merchant was born from the last Gathering and to this date I have no idea how the name came up, or how her role as 'trader of words, wit and warmth' came about. I know, I know, not much of an explanation really! I think that when I returned from the Gathering I wanted to post a quote about friendship, and out of that came the 'Thought for the Day' which I am delighted to say seems to have become a popular tradition. Actually, for some, it seems to be not so much popular as essential. I distinctly remember one day when Huggy was late posting her thought, that a certain Dana personage posted in rather a fluster saying "Where the hell is my thought? I can't start the day without a thought!" And so Huggy has tried to accomodate ever since. In times of nervous breakdown, sulks, major bodily trauma, or just general 'can't be bothered' apathy, the role is superbly filled by Huggy's newly acquired assistant JayBee. Huggy, by the way, although a member of the Mohicanland Traders Guild, is often picked on by the other traders, in particular the Dutch Trader, who has a particularly viscious streak and doesn't like Huggy's joie de vivre, very un-mercenary attitude, and constant attempts to bear hug other inhabitants.
: : The Yengeese Strumpet, aka Lucie Lastic, is much easier to recall. She was instantly created after Miss Katie, in a fit of pique, called me a yengeese strumpet. The YS runs the House of Hoo-Haa in Mohicanland, a house of ill repute that has been frequented by the French Trader, Dweebie Day-Lewis (who is just impossible to get rid of), and even *gasp* the upright, forthright, downright gentleman, Sheriff Benton (just call me Bent) Twigg. She has taken to wearing pale blue checked jammies as apparently, they send the men wild! The YS is also responsible for inviting her Parisian cousin by .... er..... possibly marriage .... Mam'selle Eclair to Mohicanland. Mamselle Eclair is not one of my characters, and as yet, seems to be keeping most people guessing as to her true identity. She is also in the 'oldest profession', she beguiles men with her sexy accent, and parisien lace undergarments, and is constantly pursued by a dribbling Dweebie (when he is not stalking Red of course!).
: : Oh by the way, as I was trawling through the archives the other day, I realized that Thursday was the first anniversary of my first post on this board! And a very boring one it was too!!
: : Anyway, a trip through Mohican Wonderland is the perfect present!! Happy Anniversary to me!!

: Madame YS,
: I beg your pardon but, you know that I, the French Trader only visit your fine establishment for the stimulating conversation and nothing more! I have a Trade Post to run and do NOT need, what`s left of my good reputation, drug thru the dirt. **BTW, isn`t it about time for one of those talks? And please do bring Mam`selle Eclair. I still can`t believe the way she.....** Hmm, hmm Oh! Where was I?
: I can`t remember exactly when the French Trader made the scene but I think it was a thread about tea and wampum. I do know that because of my "real life" family history and my hobby of reenacting, that the French Trader was the part for me. Besides I also do some trading in 18th century goods from my home down here in Texas. Anyway, someone has to do battle with the imfamous English Trader, Sarah Melcher, who seemed to appear about the same time.
:
: I also post sometimes as "Clabair" the Courier de Bois or French woods runner, which is the phonetic spelling of the way my name is pronounced in French.
: Clabert

Aaaaa, monsieur Clabert le Francais Trader, we at the House of Hoo-Haa are nothing if not discreet. We would never, I repeat NEVER, discuss our visitors.....er......preferences in public (well, unless Mamselle Eclair was partying a little too hard with some of Red's squeezin's). But I would be happy to state for the record that Monsieur Clabert is a perfect gentleman in our establishment....he has been known to fall asleep on our lurrrrvvvve seat, but always solo. I would like to state that he is also a gentleman in his trading dealings.....but I would be lying.....just ask the Dutch Trader.......
