Daniel Boone and Nathaniel Bumpo

Hello all, I just found this site and have been enjoying exploriting it. Love the LOTM and American History. Wondering if there is discussion here about Coopers Hawkeye character being inspired by Daniel Boone... as claimed by John Mack Farragher's biography of Boone. Boone's real life rescue of his daughter and the Callaway girls from Indian captors is as exciting as any fiction and my favorite story from this period of American History. By the way.. my father named me after Daniel Boone.

I imagine I will find some discussion on this as I review the archived messages.. but would enjoy emails from anyone with this interest.
