Hi Everyone,
Tonight on television, the Hallmark Hall of Fame will present "THE LOST CHILD", a woman's quest for her missing past. It has an Indigenous American theme. It stars Mercedes Ruehl, Irene Bedard, Michael Greyeyes, Tantoo Cardinal, Jennifer Podemski, etc. It has been very well reviewed in the local papers here and also in People magazine (they rarely give anything a good review). I believe that it addresses the issue of Native adoptees into non-Native families.
I hope that everyone will get this message in time. We will try to tape it.
Sorry to all, that I have not written much lately. This is due to an overload of work, not related to the computer. Hopefully some time will free up soon.
I have been to the San Francisco Native American Film festival. It was fantastic, as usual. One of our favorite films showing was a documentary on the life of Edward S. Curtis. He has brought so much to the Indian people, by filming their ancestors. In the film they interviewed many of the families that were so thankful to have the opportunity to see their ancestors in print, recorded for all time. It has helped them to understand aspects of their culture that have faded into history. The best part of the movie for us, was acutual film footage of Curtis' expedition to the artic. He filmed the Eskimo people before any white man or missionary had ever been there. The happiness of the people of this region was so beautiful to behold! I am going to see if I can get a copy of the documentary. I believe that it was made for a PBS broadcast. I will let everyone know if I find it anywhere.
I just want to give my blessings to all and wish everyone a beautiful and happy Holiday Season!
Blessings,
Ayesha
