: I noticed Rich's post about Lakota Sun Dance traditions posted earlier this month... I thought I'd offer the following as a comparison. If you go to the Southern Ute homepage and go to the Southern Ute Culture link there is a very good description of their contemporary Sun Dance practices. My partner is currently preparing himself mentally and physically to dance in Ignacio this next summer to honor his father, who died this past June; and to honor his grandfather who died several years ago. It is not, generally, an event outsiders are allowed to attend. I know I won't be there as much as I'd like to be.
