: ...with the sounds of MAYHEM!!  On Sunday, October 22, the Red-Haired Lass, Gadget Girl, and MMMMarcia took to the trails of Chimney Rock Park for an afternoon of sheer madness and lunacy!  After scampering (or trudging, depending on whether you are Lass or GGGG) around for several hours, we managed to be the very last people to leave the park!  Employees were tapping their feet impatiently in the gathering dusk as we made our way (painfully, for some of us) back down the trails and out to the waiting bus.  It was a cool and cloudy day, as you can tell from the picture above, but all of the mist was over the distant hills, and the fall colors were still wonderful.  For those who don't recognize this shot, the fencing you see at the left was removed for the film so that Chingachgook & Magua could stand out closer to the edge of the rock for their final battle.  You can see a slight trail of water going down the rock face, which is Hickory Nut Falls.  It was not flowing heavily, obviously, I guess due to the dry weather building up daily.
