: : MMMMarcia, great minds do think alike! I've been wondering the same thing too. Have been scanning some DDL sites and movie sites learning a bit about this movie, and this Bill the Butcher cat sounds like a truly scary individual. I'm also a little scared to see what he's going to look like, because apparently in the original book Bill the B. had a false eye that had the American Eagle printed on it. Dear God, can you imagine that???? I've seen two pics from tabloids of DDL with a handlebar moustache, which is equally scary. So could it be that he's going to be both evil AND horrible to look at? And knowing Mr. Method's rigorous preps for roles, how is he going to be prepare to be a cold-blooded killer? Maybe I don't want to know...

: Omigawd! A glass eye with an EAGLE on it??? I'm having SUCH trouble envisioning that...and I won't even THINK about the handlebar moustache idea. But, let's face it...we've seen him looky pretty weird before. Christy Brown was a great character, full of life, but not one of DDL's hunkier looks. John Proctor? Well, as I've said before...wouldn't want him close to me without a serious scrubbing and a vat of Extra Whitening, Tartar-Control Crest. And Cecil Vyse...hilariously prissy, yes. Sexy? Not so much so, unless you are the type who LIKES straw boaters and monacles on your man!
: All in all, I'm guessing that if he's a nasty, ugly looking brute, we'll still be so amazed by his performance, we'll be loving to hate him. As for his preparations...chances are he never had anyone flogged in public, and never stepped off a platform with a noose around his neck, so maybe there's at least SOME sort of a limit as to what he'll do to get into character. Hopefully!

DDL has my vote for President! He is the ultimate chameleon and will blend in well into any movie and more. His credits are endless. Jo or MMMMarcia can you (or anybody else for that matter) refresh my memory about his very great classic line in the Boxer? Basically to paraphrase the scene where he is describing his dire situation - "I have not killed anybody but this place makes me want to ..." Need to commit it to memory. Thanks in advance!
