Hello dear residents of LOTMLand,
Firstly, I would like to introduce myself to you: My name is Kristina O'Donnelly, aka Vita Vendresha and Karina di Cuore, and I am the publisher of a novel currently being penned by Marie de Merle, long time resident of LOTMLand. Named in memory of my dear, departed mother-in-law, Rose O'Donnelly, nee McKee, Rose International Publishing House, Inc., is not only the fruition of my life-long dream, but of my late parents', as well. With a virtually life-long experience in the 4th Estate and as a qualified, sharp-eyed editor and book-reviewer and 14-hour a day 7 days a week hitherto unpaid work schedule invested, I am forced to be quite picky regarding the works The Rose commits herself to publish.
Eden's Winter, by Marie de Merle, is a well researched and VERY WELL executed historical novel, a piece of literature I am very proud of having among The Rose's list of offerings. Also, while it is the lead novel of the series, Eden's Pendulum, the fact is that this book is Marie's first ever novel. With her talent, she could have endeavored writing novels long before, however, life has kept interfering with her calling. Her talent, courage, and commitment deserves to be acknowledged and applauded, and the quality of this work of literature merits lengthy discussions.
I have included the direct link to Eden's Winter below. Also, there is another information you might find interesting, the artist and webmistress of Rose International Publishing House, Inc., as well as the partner, is your very own, Ms. Elaine Federici. Needless to say, she does feel the same strong commitment to Marie de Merle's Work, as I do.
Until now, Marie de Merle has preferred to remain anonymous. I do not have the right to reveal her identity, either. Let it suffice to be repeated that Marie is not I, Kristina O'Donnelly.
Rose International Publishing House has another historical novel which is complete and will be published in about 2 weeks. This novel is titled Unexpected and is by Suzie Morris. We will supply with its link later. Marie's novel comes first for discussion as its subject matter is your very own, American history.
Below is the link and its synopsis:
"As a nation struggles to emerge & discover its own identity, a young girl finds herself caught within the violence of its Machiavellian birth. Thrust into the tumultuous winds of war & rebellion, fifteen year old Martine sets upon a quest not of her own choosing - a journey of survival & self-discovery that leads her through a maze of hellish discoveries.
Before she can succeed in her journey's destiny, she must first come to terms with the bitter realization that things are not as they appear to be - and in the process, discover her true self.
"Eden's Winter" is the first book in the historical fiction series, "The Eden Pendulum" by Marie de Merle. The series, which swings back & forth between America & France, opens during the American Revolution where we meet the young spirited Martine Goodson. Daughter of an English born American merchant & a French-Canadian mother, Martine personifies the cultural, political, ethnic, & religious clashes that pervaded American colonial society & molded the character & collective mindset of the offspring nation.
Coming of age within a climate of hatred, distrust, & deeply rooted convictions of many winds, Martine's transition from the innocence of girlhood to the awakening of womanhood is prematurely escalated & cruelly exacerbated by circumstances & events beyond her control. As she sets out to free & exonerate her imprisoned brother, she finds herself on a twisting path of tragic revelations - revelations which force her pursuit of self-discovery as she unwillingly encounters the unraveling of nearly every aspect of her life.
