: : The Scotsman wouldna have to build anything.  He'd attend the Spaniard's church, defend himself from the Frenchman's fort, trade at the Dutchman's warehouse, have his wee nip at the Sassenach's alehouse and probably beg a bed in the German's cabin. With all these buildings about, why should he be spending his own hard cash?
