: Vita....
: A wonderful, wonderful story. Here's one for you. Our garden has been infested with groundhogs and my green and yellow beans and lima beans and tomatoes and cucumbers are very important to my family and I. Sure, I could purchase these items in the store, but my wife and I enjoy gardening, and we are from families that grew up with knowing the importance of saving money wherever we can, a little work and we can have all the veggies we need (I am farm family, she is a preacher's kid!)
: Wife canned and froze 80 quarts of green/yellow beans, we've frozen 12 or so quarts of lima beans, jars of cuke and pepper relish, etc., etc. You get the picture. So, the groundhogs get sent to that big hole in the sky. Even my wife did one in this summer...and...they become the food for foxes, bears, etc. SOOOOO, last week, I saw something in the garden, brown ears, little brown body. Opened the kitchen window, took aim, but couldn't see "exactly" that it was a "whistlepig"...Wife said, "Go look, it may be something else". I walked quietly up to the garden and a fawn, still with spots, ran out. Wheeew!! Wiped the sweat from my brow....so glad my instincts and wifey made me check it out.
: Wildlife is precious. I have had experiences which most people will never have. Watched a black bear and cubs play one day, no more than 25 yards away, have had owls swoop over me in the dark, hooting, hooting their wise call. I've had 6 or more squirrels play around my feet and then watched them scamper off...they gave me more joy that way than filling my stomach. So, onward, onward, Oh,,,must get moving, time to meet up with Malcolm and Davey Gunn at Loyalhanna (Chronicles II)!!!

Hi Many Flags!
I am sending you, via a pigeon, of course, a shot of my Tiger sitting by my office window and keeping me company.
Re.. your lima beans and cukes and relish... may I ask when do you intend to invite me to dinner? Lunch would do, too....
Cordially yours,
YeOldeTowneCrier, or she who is appreciative of homegardengrown sustenance
