: Haha Jeri! Great minds think alike! I typed a message about
Magua being an acquired taste before I read your message saying the exact same thing.
: Funny, the menfolk on the list are strangely silent.

: : : : And what about Ching? Ching has "muffins". Ching has a loin cloth. Ching is a great father. Ching is cool. Ching has an awesome choker. I am a lone voice. Doesn't anyone care about personality? What about goodness? Ching was LOADED with goodness! Where do you think Uncas got it from? He got it from Chingachgook. I'm so lonely.:) It's just not easy being a Ching groupie.

: : : Dana, Dear...if it's any consolation to you, Chingachgook has always been my 2nd favorite in the film. (I fear to admit this on this Board, but Uncas never attracted a bit of my attention until about the 10th or 15th viewing. I mean, I thought he had a lovely, sculpted-looking face, but I also thought that about several of the native actors in the movie.) But Chingachgook had great strength and character...and a pretty impressive chest, I might add, exposed nicely in the scene at Cameron's cabin. But mostly, he had a sad, wise face, filled with love for his sons. Yes, after Hawkeye...definitely Chingachgook!! Third? No doubt! Magua. Yes, Ros...Wes has one of the greatest faces around. Very strong. Uncas, though pretty, just never seemed to have the same strength of character as the others, to me. *says she, ducking & running for cover!!*

: : Hey Marcia,

: : I total agree about Ching's chest. It's very impressive. What really impressed me about Ching though was the way he was able to keep up with the two younger guys running up that rock face on their way to rescue Cora and Alice. I took a lot of ribbing about Magua. In fact, someone brought me another drink. Thought I needed it if I thought Magua was a sweetie. Sheesh. Appreciating Magua is like learning to appreciate a fine vintage wine. It's an acquired tase! LOL.

Hey Steph!

Not a peep out of them. With regard to Magua, I know that he's the ultimate bad guy of the film, but I sometimes wonder if, given everything the Mohawks and the English did to him and his family, that he wasn't justified in how he feels. Even Hawkeye at the River Walk asked Duncan if there was an insult or blood vengence done to the 'Huron Captain', explaining why he tried to kill Cora. The Native people took such things very seriously and I'd say being taken captive and having your children killed would twist the best of us. The first couple of times I watched the movie, I thought Magua was the WORST. Now, however, after ?? times watching it and having learned so much from this board, I have a bit better understanding for what went on and what made him the man he was. Just some thoughts....

...Jeri
