A Brief Update on Poor, Pitiful MMMM....*sniff*

Hi, Mohicanites! Thank you SO much for all the emails & cards I've received since Rich posted about my maladies. I appreciate each and every one of them, though have not been able to respond to all of them. Just so you know I'm NOT ignoring you, I haven't been able to get out of bed for longer than an hour or so at a time in nearly two weeks! URK!!! Once I got the bronchitis fairly well beaten into submission, the infected ankle came into all its purple & red glory, and just refuses to be defeated. (DeFEETed??) I'm sorry to say that I seem to have a form of staph infection that is antibiotic-resistant, and it is a real pain in the FOOT!

I won't bore you with all the graphic details, but I go back to the doctor (for the 3rd time) tomorrow, and he will probably close his eyes & draw another antibiotic out of a hat, and we will try that for 3 or 4 days. In the meantime, I'm supposed to stay in bed with my foot elevated higher than my head. I've really been trying to do that, as this has been a bit scary as well as painful, otherwise. When I'm up for more than a few minutes, my foot begins to swell up like a balloon, so I just lie there & read & doze & yawn & stare at the ceiling & think about poor, pitiful me & shake my fist at the heavens once in awhile & rail about bacteria in general & staph in particular & am just overall a real PATOOT! I'm getting pretty tired of it and Mark is getting even MORE so, but there's nothing else to be done at this time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow brings some RELIEF!

In the meantime, please know I miss you all, and I miss posting on the Board, and I'm hoping Miss Paddletale or Miss Marcia might make a brief appearance or two over the next few days as things (SURELY!) improve. And now...to bed once more, to point my dainty little footsie at the sky & wonder if I'll ever be able to fit a shoe on it again in this lifetime! ;o)
