After the Gathering, I realized that LOTm meant different things to each one of us because we had all experienced it at different levels. Imagine all the different levels of reality of this story: first the book itself, raw in the way Cooper wrote it. Then you take people like Soldier #2, who were involved in the movie production, they could never see it the way we did as first-time viewers walking into the theatre. And after listening to their experiences and anecdotes about the filming, we too can never see it the way we did before. We have changed, like you said, lost our innocence and once lost, it can never be regained. Like you can never go back to thinking there really is a Santa, or that there really are gnomes. :) It's interesting that the movie itself hasn't changed, only our perceptions of it as we move through different levels of Mohican reality. I can't even imagine how different Rich and Elaine's perceptions of the movie are from my own. And now, for me at least, the movie will always be intertwined with the Gathering, and that adds a whole new level of meaning, one that I wouldn't trade in for all the wampum and brandy in Mohicanland!

: Ok, so I finally get around to watching LOTM for the first time since I got back from the Gathering. And I get the funny feeling that I will never see the film in quite the same way again! For a start, poor Dave had to put up with "I went there" or "I saw that" at regular intervals during the movie. And then of course, there was the constant reminder of Soldier #2's little red laser light during our big screen showing. Add to that the endless jokes about lines, "my corns hurt.....", "gotta torture you Jack", and something that Marcia and Kate sniggered loudly at on several occasions (that I can't remember!). Put it this way, I feel as though I am seeing the film with entirely new eyes, and I kinda miss the old view!
: Anyone else had the same experience?!
