: I have gotten to see the movie this spring (2000). (Guess I'm a late bloomer). It is really a wonderful movie with that good looking Daniel as well as the other super actors. I continue to look at the movie and try to guess where all the scenes took place. On my trip to Cherokee, I stopped at Chimney Rock to see where some of the places that the last 30 minutes of the movie were played. Sure hope Daniel Day-Lewis comes back to the screen--it would be a tragedy for him not to make any more movies.
Joan:
Your prayers have been answered. DDL has signed on to play the part of either "Bill the Butcher" or his father in Scorsese's next film, "The Gangs of New York," which is supposed to start shooting either late this month or in September in Italy. It's about Irish and Italian gangs in New York City in I believe the late 19th century. Robert Deniro was originally slated to play the role but backed out.
