Would have been quite a sight to see everyone speak the King's English other then the many of branches of English made today like Ebonics. Oh well history is history, I'm just trying to bring a little light to the other side of the story.

:  Yep, this is it, OUR BOARD, interesting stuff going on. If you have the time, check out mine, too, since you happen to own The Horseman, as well.
: I love 'what ifs', and it is mind-expanding to think 'what if the English rule had continued.' Also, we can say, 'what if German had been the dominant tongue,' for as you know, when the Constitution was being authored and then English was declared to be the main language... the initial debate had included favoring German.
: Neither the Brits, nor the Germans, nor, hey, gotta say this: The Turks (there is as much anti-Turkish propaganda here today as there was anti-American propaganda in Turkey)...
: I love the Turks. Also the Germans and Austrians. You know why, this is not only book-knowledge but based on personal history. In other words I saw plenty kindness from Turks, and more so from Austrians than Germans.... hmmm.... do have a chip on my shoulders re. Albanians, though... ahhh but this is a sore spot in my heart!!!
