: : :   1) Toward the end of the movie, as DDL runs and screams out Uncas's name, if you look really closely (you pretty much have to pause the movie to see it, but I was able to notice it without pausing it. Then I had to go back and slow mo it to make sure I hadn't been seeing things.) the rock that DDL passes moves as he hits it. Upon further investigation it's just a blanket tossed over that looks like a rock.

: : Here's a link to a picture of what that Chimney Rock Park site looked like when the film was made.  At that time the stairway to the observation deck at Inspiration Point led up from the rock cleft.  A tarp covered the dogwood rail to form the "rock".  CRP did not want to take this stair rail down for the movie; since then they have replaced the entire deck. (?)  Maybe too many tourists smashed their heads against the rock?
