If you happen to be attacked by mosquitos in the great outdoors and are not within shouting distance of the nearest 7-11 or sporting goods store to pick up on of those over the counter remedies that contain god-knows-what neurologically harmful chemicals, try picking a bit of dog fennel (a common weed in the South...it is very feathery and grows quite tall...looks like overactive dillweed) and rubbing it on your skin. The Seminole Indians considered dog fennel the ultimate weapon against insect bites, especially mosquitos...and found it effective even in the Everglades, where mosquitos are the size of Harriers and twice as deadly. It works.
