Good morning folks. I'm sad. A week ago today we were getting ready to go up to Chimney Rock Park. Today I sit in Wisconsin and it is muggy and foggy outside, and I miss the advencha.

A lovely English lady asked if she could ride with us up to Chimney Rock park and we were pleased to have her. We left before Marcia, and somehow that woman beat us there! We had a great time there and back though with much talking and laughing.
Just goes to show that the English have forgiven us for 1776 and 1814!!!

I struggled up that friggin cliff trail in 25 yard spurts. I did it in stages partly because of the huffing and puffing, and partly because I would walk out of a covered walkway area and spot the next part of the trail just hanging out there in the sky! Oh my! Telling myself " okay look straight ahead, or down at your feet and go as fast as you can", and off the little gnome would scurry to the next less scary part of the trail. Rest and huff and puff and climb some more stairs. Finally, getting to the top and the falls and discovering that everybody else had left, and there we were out in the open when the Thunderstorm hits. Wind blowing, rain pouring - no way I was gonna go back down that cliff trail. So off across the top we go. Only to discover those terrifying flights of wooden stairs at the end of the trail. Hanging out in thin air for five or eight flights down. Heart beating I work up the courage to go down them.
Finally getting back down to the entrance to the gift shop, soaking wet and trembling. I had done it!!!

Can we do it again Rich????
