The MacLeod and I arrived home safely Tuesday evening and attempted to post to the BB, only to have our posts swallowed into some virtual black hole...and yesterday our server crashed completely. This morning was the first time I was able to get back to Mohicanland, and did I ever need it...
To all we met at the Gathering, thank you for making it such a wonderful experience...Rich and Elaine, our lives would be a lot darker without you and your herculean efforts to make the Gathering happen...Rich, you are a born leader, and I would consider it an honor to serve in your militia...thanks to Misses Marcia and Kate for their organizational skills, consummate diplomacy and for Ariel's Cabin...to Clabert for his discourses on local plantlife and period living, and for always stopping to give those discourses just at the moments on the trail where I just knew I would drop if I walked another step, and also to Clabert for his wonderful dinner companionship...to Adrienne, for her high spirits and comraderie on the trip, despite ambushes by flat tires and midnight incarcerations in Super Walmarts...to Eric and Sharon, for sharing "The Kiss" on Table Rock...to Eric, thanks from The MacLeod for retrieving his favorite crocodile hat (I however think you should have traded it to the Hurons), and thanks from me for looking so good in that uniform!...to Jay for his gentlemanly assistance in the climb down Table Rock...to Nathan, for giving us a glimpse at Hawkeye as a young man...and for the hug, the sweet remembrance of which still floods me with tears...to Barby and Barrett for driving so many miles to provide us with music that made that last evening unforgetable...I will carry forever in my mind the picture of you two playing in the flickering firelight...it looked for all the world like we had been transported into Ft. William Henry (sans roller skates).
Stephanie, Pilgrim Penny and Dana, I've already started on your outfits and will be working on them this weekend as well...I'm pleased that so many others are joining the costume brigade!
Sign The MacLeod and I up for the 2001 Gathering...wherever and whenever it takes place. Barby and Barrett asked me to be sure and tell you all that they will be there for 2001 as well, and if they can work it into their schedules, would like to come as participants for the weekend as well as "house musicians". Oh, and if you all will have them, a couple of friends of ours who could not make it this year would like to join up in 2001...an accomplished fiddle player and tin whistle/flautist...and they both know The Gael...I can already feel the energy for the 2001 ceilidhe coming together...
