To All in Mohicanland:

Dr. Uncle Mark has asked us to come into the future, as our spirit selves, and relate an interesting story. First, I understand there was a Gathering of Folks this past weekend who are curious of our 18th Century doings, esp. the story of Hawkeye and Uncas and Cora and others. Huzzah to you all for your interest and comradeship.

Now, to the story. We (Seamus and myself) were present (in Spirit) at Fort Ticonderoga for the French and Indian War reenactment this past weekend. We were inspecting the troops when this lad came past, a hardy lad of the Ranger Company. We spoke, and found that it was none other than Chauncy Goodrich, who has also spoken through this message board. We spent a few minutes speaking with Pvt. Goodrich and it was indeed a pleasure.

"Tis a small world indeed, when one can spot, among hundreds of other soldiers and folk, a person who shares the same interests, as we did in young Chauncy. Seamus and myself (and Davey Gunn and Pvt. JohnsTon, and Many Flags and Three Tales, and Uncle Quasi) hope someday to meet all of you who have this curiousity for our 18th Century life.

Fort Ticonderoga was hot and steamy, but the two high points were meeting with Chauncy Goodrich and also the march which the 77th Grenadiers made to the Memorial Cairn of the 42nd RHR. It was good to see reenactors of the 18th century honor those of us who fought for "the cause" in 1758 and 1759.

Huzzah to the 42nd Highlanders! Huzzah to the 77th Highlanders!
God Save the King! Pax Aye!
