: : well , does anyone know if there are plans for a sequel to this incredible movie ?

: How about a DIrector's Cut??? See our Opening Page & JOIN IN!!!

:
: : also would i be right in suggesting that all fans of LTOM , also loved BRAVEHEART ?? actually i thought braveheart was the best film i have ever ever seen , LTOM ranks a close second .

: Well, as far as I'm concerned, yes, I love the film Braveheart. Probably more due to the subject matter than anything else, I like LOTM better. Braveheart, though, I feel suffers from a totally riduculous relationship between William Wallace & royalty (made up, obviously). Also, the soundtrack, while very good, with some real stirring stuff in there, doesn't do it for me the way the LOTM soundtrack does.

: Another one I love is Rob Roy. Excellent piece of work, that to me, is dragged down only by some very crude moments. Throw in Lonesome Dove, & you probably have my 4 favorite films ...

: : what do u people think ... post your replies ok ?

I did enjoy Braveheart very much. I wasn't particularly interested in seeing it when it came out, but was very glad I did, and on the big screen, too.(Which I didn't with LOTM,sadly). I found it very good, moving at times.

I agree with Rich about Lonesome Dove. Aside from LOTM, it is the only piece I've seen in the last 15 years or so, that has affected me so profoundly. The heroes in both LD and LOTM were brave and never "shirked" to quote one the characters from Lonesome Dove. They didn't think twice about saving an individual in distress. They weren't fighting so much for a cause, as in Rob Roy and Braveheart, as they were for the individual.

Hawkeye, Ching and Uncas came to the aid of Cora and company when they were attacked on the George Road, before there was a love connection between Hawkeye and Cora. And they got them safely to the fort. They didn't even like them very much at this point! Helping strangers, risking life and limb for another, the strong coming to the aid of the weak...just doing it because it's the right thing to do...it's just inspiring. Heroes like that are few and far between. But I do believe there are a few out there in the real world.
