: Greetings All !
: Well, must say that the festival was well worth it.
: Everyone was dressed beautifully - I walked with many pictures!
: Didn't see Mark Baker, but I did run into a gentleman by the name of Wayne Horton (?) He said that he and his friend made the original guns for the movie. He claimed that they were 2 guns pieced together and were intended for props only. When his friend found out they were actually practicing with them (firing) he refused to embark on any more dealings with Mann because of the danger. Seems like DDL came mighty close to blowing his head off ! Mr. Horton also said that we should talk to his friend, artist David Wright. He was involved in the initial sketches for the look/authenticity of the Indians and spent a lot of time with Mr. Means and Mr. Studi.
: I spoke to him about the board and the push for the Directors Cut.
: When I mentioned the scenes that were left out, he commented on the Uncas/Alice love scene and told me that that would have never happened. An Indian would not have sex if they were out on any sort of endevour (hunting, war, travelling). No matter what... it it was against the Indian "religion".
: Anyhoot, this was of course conversation... Highly recommend that if anyone gets the opportunity to go sometime... please do. And let me know - always happy to meet a fellow Mohicanite ! :-)
Hi Caitlin and everyone else,
Yes, I am still alive & lurking around, reading whenever I get the chance.
Caitlin, sounds like you had quite a nice time of it at the festival! I also found your information quite interesting. Do you suppose that M. Mann or whoever decided to take that Alice/Uncas scene out because of his (Mann) wanting to be authentic about everything in the movie? Then poor DDL!! That would have been most unfortunate.
Anyway, glad you got to go and share with us.
