: Since when did you buckle under and start serving okra? I recall that I asked you not too long ago if you would be kind enough to cook me up some. And, if I remember correctly, you said, ahem..."I don't touch vegetables that manage to be both slimy and fuzzy" or something of that nature. I was then told I would have to procure my okra elsewhere. Hmmmm....you wouldn't be holding out on me would you? I may have to take back all those delectable Rocky Mountain Oysters I traded you.....Penny THE (rather curious) Mohicanite of CO!
Well, Dear Penny, you've (blush!) caught me! It's true, I never touch any vegetable (or critter, for that matter) than manages to be both hairy & slimy at the same time, which rules out not only okra but several of my so-called gentlemen callers! But due to its vast popularity in this region, I'm obliged to supplement my otherwise homecooked meals with an occasional Take Out order of McOkra. I toss out the styrofoam container and serve it up in my china dishes, and who's the wiser? But I assure you, everything else on the menu at Miss Marcia's DownHome Kitchen is killed, skinned, plucked, chopped, sliced, diced, baked, boiled, stewed, steamed, roasted and/or fried up by my own little ol' hands! Really, truly. As for those Rocky Mountain Oysters, don't worry about taking them back. The package has already been marked "Return To Sender," and should, by now, be halfway back to you already! If you think Miss Marcia has stringent rules about touching OKRA....!!!!
Honestly Yours,
Miss Marcia
