Good idea, Ilse. There is endless material in Cooper's books (or even just Cooper's LOTM) for some excellent discussions. A mulatto heroine created by an early 19th century author is food for thought in itself. Cooper's tales are like layers of mysteries that beg to be examined and solved. Quite a complex mind he had.
