: : : It seems to me, while I was klomping along at the last gathering; while I was attempting to climb up to the site at the end of the movie, I heard that this sight/area was not the first choice for the ending of the movie; that another sight had been looked at. Either I heard wrong, or is this true? What was the first choice for the backdrop for the scene... or was it another scene?? Or did I have a mind scape minute???

: : Yes, Jo. Mann originally wanted Hawksbill, the mountain that you could see if you looked back down the trail when you reached the CHimneys (final scene area) Both Table Rock and Hawksbill are designated Wilderness areas, but Table Rock is a little more accessible. I guess they figured the film crew could do less damage at Table Rock, for they did not give permission for Forward Pass to film on HawksBill.

: Another note on this ... (and Susan, WHERE have you been??? Getting those "The Gael" tapes ready, I hope?) ... One reason the film crew wanted Hawksbill, was because of the 360-degree panarama it affords. If you stand at the right spot, on Table Rock, there's a pretty decent 360 to be had, yet, they never used that type of view in the final film.

Thanks, Susan and Rich.
There was yet something else about all of the "how did they get up there?"...when we were up on the top of Chimney Rock falls eating our great bag lunch, my sisters and I were talking with one of the employees who mentioned, although he was not there at the time of the filming; that there was a road up the back of the falls; this is the road they use if they need to get someone out in a hurry if they've been hurt; for instance. He said he understood that the road was used to bring in all of the filming equipment etc. Made sense to me. I could also see Maddy riding up the back side of Chimney rock in her 4x4 instead of hiking up the front trail....
Anything to all of this?
