Shortly before dawn this morning, was awakened by a strange rumbling sound which seemed to move from north to south and then gradually faded away into the distance. Keeping in mind your warning about the movement of various hostile Indians, I kept a sharp lookout as I resumed my northward travel. Discovered a strange moccasin trail imprinted at least three inches deep - either one awfully big Indian or 20 to 30 Indians doing that old stunt of running in each others' footsteps. Understand there has been another massacre at Gnadehutten. Could this be stirring up a new Indian backlash?
