: *sigh* Okay, you win, Gayle...I'm getting more interested every day...guess I'm gonna have to try AGAIN to read Cooper's tales. Folks, wish me luck, here...I've failed miserably at being able to get into them in the past, but Gayle assures me that I've been reading them in the wrong order. We'll see if fixing that will work...more later on the Mighty Mohican Mama Marcia's Great Attempt to Read JFC. (JFC?? Sounds like a fast-food chicken franchise...something I'd have less trouble understanding than Cooper, I'm sure!!)

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, you poor baby! You think I'm a tyrant, don't you? A wicked, steely-eyed English teacher with a long, flexible cane in her hand. Actually, I'd love you dearly if you never picked up a Cooper novel in your life.
Howsever, if you ARE determined to struggle through this regimen, just relax and let yourself enjoy the beautiful descriptions of the forests and the lakes and the rivers. Float around in the canoes and let the mountain breezes sift through your hair. Listen to what the characters say and nod or take issue with them as happens to suit you, and try not to fall out of the canoe laughing when Natty lets out with one of his more atrocious opinions.
Remember, I'm here to help. And if you haven't finished through page 100 by Wednesday, you will stay after school for detention.
Gayle (really not an English teacher, believe me)
