Being an Alice/Uncas 'type'. I watched with baited breath the finale to LOTM. I think Alice did think all was lost when she was being lead away by Magua. But Uncas trying to save her snapped her back to reality. The eye contact that in my opinion took place between them sealed my wishful thinking and reinforced Uncas' longing looks in her direction, and his 'taking care of her in the burial ground and behind the water-fall. After he had given his life for her, rather than give herself to Magua, she had no choice but to follow Uncas. She looked down to where he had landed, and she landed on the same rock bed. I think Alice was certainly 'fragile' but still lucid.
