Deja Vu and Duncan, Too

I've always been fond of Duncan, misguided as he was. My feelings are that he was an honorable man who simply did not understand "the way of it" in the Colonies. He believed his allegiance was first & foremost to his Country, and even when he lied about what he saw at Cameron's cabin, I felt it was because he thought it was in the best interests of the Crown. I believe he truly loved Cora, could not understand what was happening with her, and did not have a clue what Hawkeye was really about until those last moments at the Huron camp. He sacrificed himself so that the woman he loved could leave with the man SHE loved...what could be more noble than that? He was an officer and a gentleman, playing by the rules he had been taught.
