: : There are several posts in the 1997 archives addressing this question at to Hawkeye's accent; they are at "Hawkeye's American Accent"; about 6/12/97; at almost the begining of the 1997 posts; perhaps they will give you some info; although DDL is now "Irish"; I always had the  impression he was raised in England/London and then as an adult moved to Ireland. The London/England accent is the most tame of all the British  accents; not unlike all of the non accents out of California's Hollywood movies.  Just goes to show what a great actor he is to take on so many accents.

: I read a recent interview of DDL's. He said he always felt more comfortable in Ireland than England. He also mentioned a strong attachment to his Irish father even though he died when DDL was young.
