: Regarding accents, the only times I can recall the British accent really, really coming through was a couple of times when that extra "r" crept in --- and I believe "my ma(r) and pa"was one of them  It's when a word ends in a vowel sound and the next word begins in a vowel sound.  There's a term for it, but it has been to many years since my speech class--retroflexed r?
