Tom, I join the ranks of those who are surprised to hear your reaction to the Clannad music. I have always felt it was perfect...the sound, the words. I don't see it as anachronistic (the fact that the viewer is aware it is performed by a 20th century Irish band should not detract from its effectiveness - and that's the only thing I can figure that would make it anachronistic).

Also, the scene where Uncas and Hawkeye fish Chingachgook from the river has always carried meaning for me. It demonstrates the closeness of their family in a way no other scene in the film does, and at a crucial juncture in the story. I feel it adds a lot to the film.
