loved this question! I picked up on that myself but I agree with Rich. Hawkeye was nothing but direct and to the point! I always imagine that when he was telling Cora about her father's death he said, "well, first Magua shot your father and the horse fell on him trapping him, perhaps breaking his leg and causing him untold agony, then, while he was still alive Magua vowed to whipe your fathers seed from the earth, then Magua took his knife and ripped your father's beating heart from his body..." No wonder Cora said, "Say nothing to Alice"!
