: Doesn't look like anyone is posting anymore, so I'll just give the answer. The British column was a composite force made up of elements of the 4th (King's Own), 23rd (Royal Welch Fusiliers), and the 42nd (Black Watch). The numbered slightly less than 800.

I'd appreciate it if you could e-mail me with the name/author/etc. of the book you mentioned concerning British regimental history.
