Myra,

It is not the video tape as much as it is your TV. I have viewed the movie on all types of tapes, VCRs, and TVs and the same tape can produce a dark effect on some TVs. A wide screen TV also produces a dark effect. My parents have the same TV as I do, make & model, and with my VCR hooked up to their TV. I can hardly see the night scenes. Try a different TV or have yours ajusted.
