: Hi Rebecca
: The inside of the huts were what you'd expect for a movie set - just plywood frames. That kind of dampened the mystique of the place, but other than that, the village still stands and looks like it was a real abandoned Huron village. Everything was in place just as it was in the movie. If you notice in the movie, there were a lot of wooden poles resting against the huts (I got one of those) and I got a few pieces of bark from the wooden frame where Duncan was burned. In the movie, he looks as if he's been raised up to the frame, but in actuality, he probably was on his knees because the frame is so low to the ground. We had to stoop down to get our own "burned at the stake" photos. Also in the movie, as Cora and Hawkeye are leaving the village you can see the pavement of the road that lead to the site. There was also a fabrication of steps up the rock from which they peered down at the village. We got lots of pictures, and I told Rich I'd be happy to share them - so maybe he can post some of the more worthy ones. I so glad to see there are others who felt the same way about the movie I did. I was beginning to think I was weird about it, and maybe I am - but I'M NOT ALONE!
Hi Diana,
Thank you so much for sharing this info with us! I 'd love to see
your photos! How interesting that the stake was so low!! When did you travel to N.C.?
I hope you'll be able to make it to the second gathering!!
I will try my best to make it and not break a limb....
Thanks again,
