Rich,
I agreed with everything you said about Stowe. Her choice of roles have been extremely poor. I thought that she could have taken advantage of the success of LOTM to catapult herself into a better position but if you look at her track record after Mohicans, it has been a poor one.Her rate of output hasn't improve either. Short Cuts was the first film she made after LOTM. A small role, took her 2 weeks to do, an artistic success for her. I won't count Unlawful Entry because she made this film before LOTM. She made both films back to back in 1991.Blink came next, shot in 45 days, costing 11.5 million. A good solid film,if a little by the book although it did made a profit due to its small budget. I won't count China Moon since it was made in 1990.Only explanation for Bad Girls was she was paid more for this film than any other she's made. Then Twelf Monkees, and The Proposition which took a critical thumping. That's 5 movies in 6 years, less than a movie a year. Except for Bad Girls , she has stayed away from lavish Hollywood productions. However, I still think she is highly regarded in the business as a real talent although she'll never make $12 million per movie.
